A security alarm is a natural progression from a key-less entry system. They both share allot of the same components and convinces, only a full security system offers you the addition of the following.
Pre-Shock Sensor: a short chirp of the siren is activated when a small bump or shock to the vehicle happens. This lets possible intruders know that your vehicle has a security system.
Regular Shock Sensor: this activates the siren or horn when a more aggressive impact is made to the vehicle. This can be anything from a window being broken to some one backing into your vehicle.
Entry Sensor: this is an additional sensor or multiple sensors that offer another level of security. These additional sensors can be added to detect a door opening, a trunk being opened or a hood being opened.
Starter Kill: this is a nice one. When the alarm is activated by an intruder, a circuit will engage a relay that will interrupt the ignition from being started by a key or "hot-wiring" the car. This feature is used to protect the entire vehicle from being stolen, not so much the contents of the vehicle.
Pager System: this offers the owner almost immediate notification if the alarm has been triggered. There are some draw backs to this system as far as limited activation range and blocked signals. But it can be effective depending on your situation
