This system is installed with your mobile phone system to allow your vehicle to
be tracked by a Global Positioning Satellite system. This service is available
from some auto manufactures, like GM's "On-Star" and from aftermarket
audio manufactures, like Alpines "Mobile Mayday". Some of the benefits and
features of a GPS system are as follows.
Automatic Notification:
in the event of your air bags being deployed or an impact sensor being
activated, an automatic notification can be sent to the monitoring station.
Emergency Monitoring:
when a hidden panic button is activated, the monitoring system can call into
your vehicle and listen to the situation to decide if an emergency situation
exist. They can then take the necessary steps of contacting local law
enforcement or contacting you if the system has been activate by mistake.
Concierge Services:
you can use the on board system and the monitoring system to make your life
a little easier. You can find hotels close to you and make reservations on the
way. Double check and confirm a tee time or dinner reservation. And notify
you of travel delays and how to get around them.
Monitoring Service:
when an emergency exist, two way communications can be established with
you and the monitoring service through your cell phone. If your vehicle has
been stolen, the monitoring station can activate a kill switch in the car to cut
off the ignition once you are out of danger. Or perhaps you are in labor and
wont be able to reach the hospital in time. The monitoring service can notify
the right people and stay on the line to offer assistance until help arrives.
IMPORTANT: For some of these services provided by the monitoring station,
there will be a basic monthly or yearly service charge and possibly a use by
use charge as well. These fees are determined by the service provider.
